will foreclosure effect my citizenship

Hello, my wife and I are looking into Strategic Default which will eventually end up in foreclosure, or with any luck, just a short sale. In any case, my wife is here legally from Mexico and going to start her citizenship any day now. My question is, will either one of these effect here becoming a US citizen or possibly not having her green card re issued in 5 yrs?
Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated it. Thank you all so much in advance for any info.

Hi Kel,
This is a really interesting question. I do not believe that credit history or a foreclosure would affect citizenship. There does not appear to be anything on the application that would indicate that credit worthiness is a condition of citizenship.
If you were convicted of a crime or charged with mortgage fraud then that could be an issue.
