a few usability suggestions

Just a few ideas after using the application for a while:

** The map zoom in/out controls (the little magnifying glass icons) are so close to the toolbar with Location, Property Profile, Foreclosure Details etc., that whenever I move the mouse over to the zoom controls I always overshoot just a few pixels and then the big hover menu comes up. This obscures the zoom controls and I have to move the mouse far away to make the hover menu disappear and then carefully move back to the zoom controls.

** It is hard to mark a property interest level as zero stars after it has a star. At least I haven't figured out how to do it easily. What I mean is that first I mark the property as 3 stars say, then change my mind and want to remove all stars. There is a red X, which seems to Hide the property, and then if I Unhide it I think it comes back with zero stars. Is there an easier way?

** It would be nice if your Notes text appeared in the quick info pane that displays to the right of the map when you hover over a property in the map.

** In Clark County, Nevada, the official parcel numbering scheme is XXX-XX-XXX-XXX. But Foreclosure Radar uses XXX-XXX-XXX-XX. The second form is not recognized by any of the official county record searches. So copy-paste of the APN from ForeclosureRadar to the county site does not work.

** Each time you do a new search, the results are displayed with a reset sort order. It would be nice if the new results display remembered my sort order from the existing display.

I hope some of these ideas are useful. You have created an excellent application!

I second the un-starring problem referred to by Michael M.

It would be nice also if there were a launch link to Zillow with the address because Zillow maps show listings and solds and property lines. That'd make a big difference to me. Google only has listings - not solds.

Thanks a ton for the feedback, much appreciated. Couple of notes:

1. I think our next release will resolve the issue with the popup menus in your first item.

2. When you star a property you "Save" it to My Properties. To remove it do a My Properties search, select the Properties, and then click "Remove". That said, we'll look at changing the star control to allow zero stars, it is a good suggestion.

Also T.P. -- we do have links to Zillow, Realtor.com and Cyberhomes -- look for them at the bottom of the Details page.

Can't wait for the new release this weekend!!

That you have it ready, may I suggest some things I haven't been able to figure out how to do?

It would be great if there was a “HOME” link that would take us to the home page while we are logged in. I frequently use the items under the Learning tab but I have to log out, close the application and then start all over again.

Also, if there was a list with a sample of each type of printed report available, a member could simply click on an individual report to see the default information it contained. A single click of the mouse through the report list and you could determine which report contained the appropriate data for your particular needs. It’s difficult to know which report is the best because the options change depending on the type of search you are doing.

And finally, once I have done a search and selected the properties I want to work with, I would absolutely love it if there was a way to update the search, listing only the properties I had selected.

Just a thought . . .

The sample report list is a great idea and we will certainly pass that on.

You can save a list of properties and "tag" them so that you can easily pull up that same list of properties. If you have a check mark next to the properties you wish to track you can then click the Save Button and quickly use one of the 3 methods of identification to keep track of this list (stars, tags, statuses). The when you want to see this list again you would just go to MyProperties and pull up this list by the identifying tag. Email support@foreclosureradar.com if you need additional help saving properties.

Is there a way to delete tagged searches?

And I really wish you could have an automatic time stamp to the notes. It use to be there but has been taken away. Really miss that feature!

To delete a saved search simply select the saved search from My Saved Searches in the main menu, and click the delete button in the pop up window.

If you are trying to delete tags, you need to remove the tag from every property that uses it. To get a list of properties with the tag you want to remove use "View My Saved Properties" and set "Any Tag" in the search bar to the tag you want to remove.
