HOA fees

I have paid my Hoa fees till the end of the year. The bank foreclosed on the house on Dec. 4, 2009. We notified the HOA that we no longer own the home. The Hoa says if we do not pay the fees they will take legal action. Are we responsible for the Hoa fees after the foreclosure?
